Yan Katsnelson, M.D.

Dr. Yan Katsnelson is a highly-skilled expert in cardiac surgery. He completed his training at the Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and served as an attending Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon at the University of Chicago.
Dr. Katsnelson's clinical interests include minimally-invasive aortic and mitral valve surgery, complex aortic operations, re-operative coronary and valve surgery, and beating-heart (off-pump) bypass surgery. His research interests are in the fields of mitral valve repair and ventricular assist devices.

He also performs wide range of vascular and thoracic operation, including innovative minimally invasive Endovenous Laser Therapy to treat varicose veins.

Yan Katsnelson, M.D. is the founder of the Chicago Heart Institute and Chicago Vein Clinic. He performs surgeries at the Alexian Brothers Medical Center and St. Alexius Medical Center.

Lev M. Khitin, M.D.

Dr. Lev Khitin was born in Russia where he went through the medical school and a military service. He did research in surgery at UCSF-Stanford System and completed full training in general surgery at Lahey Clinic. His training in cardiothoracic surgery took place at Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Khitin is an author of multiple medical publications and inventions. In 2007 he joined expanding practice of Dr. Katsnelson at Chicago Heart Institute and Vein Clinic. Dr. Khitin is experienced in all aspects of cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgery including endovascular procedures. He performs operations at Alexian Brothers and St. Alexius Medical Centers.
